Before posting a question to the forum, please follow these rules. They will make your life and the life of the people helping you much easier!

  1. Read the Selenium Core FAQ.
  2. Read the SRC:Selenium RC FAQ if you are using Selenium Remote Control.
  3. Read the Selenium IDE FAQ if you are using Selenium IDE.
  4. Search the forums for previous questions related to your problem. 99% of the time your question has already been asked. Set Date Range to "All" when you do this, otherwise older results will not be displayed.
  5. Determine the proper place to ask your question. Don't ask it in many places (aka "cross post").
    • Use the Selenium forums for general Selenium-related questions.
    • Use the Selenium RC forums for questions specifically related to RC.
    • Use the Selenium IDE forums for questions specifically related to IDE.
    • Do not post your question in all of these places - we will ignore it and/or delete it
  6. Post the output/log as well as your complete test. We can't help you if you don't get us all the important information.
  7. Try to get a simple, reproducible test case that you can share on the forums. Make it readable by enclosing it with the forum markup for preformatted code. If you can't seem to make one (ie: the error doesn't happen in the test case), please state that.
  8. Tell us if the same test passes or fails in Selenium IDE. This is important because Selenium IDE has the the most unrestricted access to the browser, so if a test fails there it usually indicates that there may be a problem with your test.
  9. Mark your post as a question. Forum users get acknowledged with points for answering posts marked as questions, and may pay less attention to other posts. As a matter of etiquette, if your question is answered, give credit to the answerer so they can receive the points they deserve. Otherwise, they may be less inclined to answer your question next time.

maybe Selenium reference must also be read before posting?
